What's a mini sudoku, anyway?

Same brain, smaller playground. Classic sudoku packs 81 cells and a genuine time commitment — mini sudoku strips it down to a 4×4 or 6×6 grid with just four or six numbers to place. Same core rule as the original (one of each number per row, column, and box), just shrunk until it fits inside a coffee break.

It's not "easy mode." It's sudoku's fun-sized cousin: fast enough to finish standing up, sharp enough to actually make you think. No pencil marks, no 20-minute spiral, no losing your place halfway through. Start a puzzle, solve it, feel smart, go about your day.

How to play

Same idea as classic sudoku, just scaled down. Pick your grid size below.

4×4 grid

Uses numbers 1–4
  1. The board is 16 cells, split into four 2×2 boxes.
  2. Fill every empty cell with a number from 1 to 4.
  3. Each row must contain 1, 2, 3, and 4 — no repeats.
  4. Each column must contain 1, 2, 3, and 4 — no repeats.
  5. Each bold-outlined 2×2 box must also contain 1, 2, 3, and 4 exactly once.
  6. Tap a cell to select it, then tap a number below the board to place it. Tap ✕ to clear.

6×6 grid

Uses numbers 1–6
  1. The board is 36 cells, split into six 2×3 boxes (2 rows tall, 3 columns wide).
  2. Fill every empty cell with a number from 1 to 6.
  3. Each row must contain 1 through 6 — no repeats.
  4. Each column must contain 1 through 6 — no repeats.
  5. Each bold-outlined 2×3 box must also contain 1 through 6 exactly once.
  6. Same controls — tap a cell, tap a number. A cell glows pink if it conflicts with another in its row, column, or box.
